Fixed Asset and Construction Accountant

Reports to:
Construction Accounting Manager

Salary:
$75,000 – $85,000 depending on experience

Position Summary:

Core responsibilities of Fixed Asset and Construction Accountant will include; monitoring expenses, allocating costs and ensuring project expenses are recorded accurately, maintaining fixed asset system, close jobs and determine treatment (expense or capitalize) for jobs, become go-to person for fixed assets inquires

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create or handle fixed asset due to acquisitions and dispositions in the Yardi, and on-going monitoring of depreciation and amortization
  • Maintain fixed asset system for accounting, processing and reporting of the assets.
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed assets system to general ledger.
  • Analyze job closings using technical guidance and company policies to determine whether to capitalize or expense the job costs.
  • Assist in financial audit and tax filing activities.
  • Lead closing of fixed asset ledger for all properties on an annual basis.
  • Communicate with Regional Maintenance Directors and Regional Maintenance Supervisor on a regular basis in tracking of Capex project status
  • Review contractors’ invoices and Job Cost report for accuracy and completeness.
  • Vendor Contract creation, contract maintenance and tracking (administrative and accounting)
  • Retention tracking for contractors
  • Assist with lender construction draws
  • Submit monthly package to Finance for Lender Compliance
  • Invoice processing and check issuance
  • Monthly AR processing and posting of associated income
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements as they relate to Job Cost
  • Ensure that costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate job codes and categories

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experiencein accounting required
  • Bachelor s degree with Accounting, Finance, Business, with good understanding of fixed assets required
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to track and analyze various data as needed
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software systems required
  • Yardi software experience desired, but not required
  • Extremely detailed and accurate at all times
  • Construction Accounting and Fixed Asset Accounting experience required
  • Understanding of Sales Tax requirements as it relates to construction in various jurisdictions preferred; manager will train new hire when needed
  • Work well under pressure and deadlines while maintaining perspective and a sense of humor
  • Work well will different personalities and team dynamics
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn and contribute on a daily basis
  • Experienced in Microsoft products required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Prompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code / uniform and maintain professional appearance at all times
  • Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; detail oriented, well organized
  • Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing
  • Valid and current driver s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance
  • Ability to work 5 days a week in the Kirkland Home Office
