Employee Relations Manager | Camden Corporate Office (Hybrid Position)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for the companyâ™s employee relations function. The manager oversees and responds to complex and sensitive employment and employee relations issues; manages employee litigation/claims; consults with managers and employees on Camdenâ™s policies and procedures; and works with internal customers to develop appropriate courses of action in employee matters. The Employee Relations Manager supervises the Employee Relations Associates and ensures the Employee Relations group provides expert level human resource services to all employees in the area of employee relations. Functions with a high level of independence and makes decisions based upon policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Provides and supervises the Employee Relations Associates to ensure they provide expert level human resource services which include:
- Creating, interpreting, and maintaining compliance with HR policies and procedures
- Securing corporate-wide compliance with employment laws and regulations
- Conducting discrimination and other employment-related investigations
- Responding to agency employment-related charges/complaints
- Managing/resolving employment-related litigation including participating as Camdenâ™s representative in mediations, depositions, and other court or agency proceedings
- Overseeing employment risk management of arbitration agreements and general releases
- Working with managers to address employee performance and resolve employee concerns
- Conducting employee relations training for corporate and onsite teams
- Assessing pre-employment screening results
- Managing employee offboarding process
- Serves as a primary contact and responder for Camdenâ™s Accounting and Auditing Ethics and HR Hotlines. Investigates hotline and other employee complaints, works with other departments to resolve complaints, and reports investigation results to designated company officers.
- Reviews and responds to exit interviews. Analyzes data and information obtained through exit interview process and work with the Director of Employee Relations to identify and address issues that result in talent loss.
- Manages Camdenâ™s unemployment claims process, including submitting responses and participating as Camdenâ™s representative in unemployment hearings.
- Remains current with laws, regulations, trends and best practices in employee relations and fair employment practices and services delivered to the company.
- Supports in fulfilling all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Responds to subpoenas.
- Appropriately manages highly confidential matters and maintains strict confidentiality and security of personnel records and information.
- Continually evaluates and improves employee relations services delivered to the company including reviewing policies and procedures for best practices compliance.
- Performs all other duties, participates in company projects as requested and completes special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelorâ™s Degree required; Juris Doctor required
- 5 years♠experience in Human Resources preferred
- Excellent software skills in all Microsoft Office Suite
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.

- Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing
- Works in a typical office setting

- May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)
- Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities
- May require airline travel, out-of-town and /or overnight trips
- Attendance and punctuality is essential for success in this position
- Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, SDS, general safety training, and wearing appropriate PPE
